The Med Mentor

About Us

Who We Are

About Me

I am an orthopedic surgeon. I have been in practice for a couple of years. I specialize in sports medicine. I am a team physician. I see patients from as young as 5 years old to 90 years old. I am from California and did my training all over the country and landed in the Northwest for my practice.

Prior to my life as a surgeon, i was a collegiate athlete. I ran track and played soccer. I took time off after college to run professionally then i decided to go to medical school. I always want to be a doctor since i was 8 years old. I was the first in my family to get a medical degree.

I am married to a very supportive husband and we have three smart, beautiful children. My husband has been with me since medical school and has experienced the other side of medicine. Whether that is good or bad i am sure he would love to share his experience of being married to a surgeon.

My experience will be different from yours and i may not know all the answers but i have many friends all over the country who can help and who are willing to help. This blog is for you.

Your Med Mentor

This blog is different than any of the other medical blogs. This blog is to answer the questions that you have as you make your journey through medical training. And it can be at any stage – whether you are just in high school thinking about a career as a doctor or you are in the depths of your training as a medical student, resident or fellow.

This blog is to help you navigate this path because it is hard, tasking, confusing and lonely at times. I am just a few years in practice but the training is still fresh in my mind. Many nights i stayed up studying all night falling asleep with my face planted on one of my medical books. I remember doing rounds being so nervous to present the patient to my attending, receiving my white coat, getting pimped about anatomy during surgeries, waking up countless hours at 4am for my trauma rotations in residency, interviewing, getting accepted to residency and fellowship, getting a job and the list goes on.
